Zygor Guides vs. Joana’s Horde Guide. Which Should I choose?
Zygor Guides vs. Joana Horde Leveling Guide
Zygor Guides and Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide are pretty much looked upon as the pinnacle of World of Warcraft Guides these days. But out of the two which one should the Wow player choose? There has to be points which separate them and make one better than the other. The best thing one could do is to do a little comparison on some of the basic features, so let’s get to it.
Both Joana’s and Zygor Guides have masses of detail. They direct you via amazingly fast leveling routes. But concerning Joana’s Guide, it was primarily based on leveling with a Hunter. As most players of Wow will know, hunters level real fast and to make the most of Joana’s Guide or to replicate his speeds, you really need to roll a hunter. Now this is where the first problem with Joana’s arrives. Not everyone wants to roll a Hunter!
Now with Zygor Guides this isn’t a concern, since the author John Cook perfected his leveling path and ensured that any class within Wow could complete it, at stunning speeds. To add to this with Zygors you have coverage of every single race within the game. This is unique to Zygor Guides and means that every starter area within the game is covered and gelled into the guide. So if you choose to be a Dwarf Paladin, the guide adjusts and includes all the best quests to take in Dun Morogh, starter area.
Zygor Guides was one of the very first Guides for Wow that operated within the game. This meant that you no longer had to Alt-tab out of your Wow screen to view your next steps. This was a major improvement to the old PDF style guide and saved the player an immense amount of wasted time. Now Joana’s Guide has recently included this form of presentation but unlike Zygors, it does have it limitations. With Zygors you basically start it up and leave go, it recognises when each step with the guide has been completed and automatically updates itself and moves on. You don’t have to touch it, unless you want to. Now with Joana’s Horde Guide, the in game mode is not automated. As you complete a step within the guide, you have to continually update it, by pressing a next step button. Joana’s guide does not make a record of the quests or steps you complete, where as Zygor Guides does.
A short fall with Joana’s Horde Leveling Guide can be found in the name. Joana’s guide covers only the horde faction, if you are looking to power level an Alliance character then what ever you do make sure you pick Zygor Guides since both Horde and Alliance are covered.
This next comparison can’t really be called a comparison. That’s because Zygor Guides is the only guide out there that supplies it. This concerns the class quests. Every class within Wow has quests assigned specifically for them to do. Completing these is pivotal to the development of your character, yet all other guides to date exclude them. Why? The reason being, they are a nightmare to fit in. What with the number of classes within the game and the disruption they would cause to a normal leveling path many guides leave them out. But not Zygor Guides, they have gone that extra mile to include these all important quests and done so with great success.
To come to a conclusion, you have to make your own mind up. Joana’s Horde Guide is an excellent resource and even though here, I have made it look as if it is lacking in many areas, it’s not really fair. Because at this moment in time, there is no guide whether paid or free, out there that even comes close to the functionality of Zygor Guides. But I will leave the decision to you and what ever you choose wish you good luck and happy gaming.
