Orange Mountain Bikes: How Good Is The Diva?
Orange mountain bikes, like many other bike manufacturers, offer versions of their bikes which have been altered and tweaked to accommodate the female form. Such bikes are generally called women specific designs and the biking world still hasn’t reached a consensus on whether there is even a need for them. Before about a decade ago female riders had to cope with bikes designed for men. But Orange mountain bikes and other brands do have a point when they says there are obvious differences between the sexes and that bikes should reflect that in order to give the most comfortable ride.
When starting out at designing women’s bikes, Orange mountain bikes identified that as a rule, women are a little smaller than men and their body sizes tend to vary less. Because of all that, the Diva by Orange mountain bikes is sized slightly differently with slightly different geometry to the men’s standard model so that it better fits the female body and is more comfortable to ride.
Women generally need slightly shorter and lower bikes and generally find lighter bikes give them an easier and more comfortable ride. The good enws is that the Orange Diva Five can offer all of this. Most mountain bikers will be very familiar with Orange mountain bikes’ design classic the Orange Five. Trails are always full of them. There’s a pretty good chance you’ll see a few Diva Fives on the trails too. But are they worth it?
When you buy and Orange mountain bikes Diva Five, you get a choice of short or long sizes. Regardless of the size, the bike is still based around the standard 14 inch Five. The biggest difference is in the build kit: the Diva used 16mm cranks as opposed to the 175mm ones on the standard. There is of course a women’s saddle too.
Air suspension on the front and back of the bike results in a good lightweight model. The ride is also comfortable thanks to the narrower handlebars, shorter cranks and women’s saddle. Despite the comfort factor, Hope breaks and Shimano gears ensure it is still a strong ride.
Overall there’s no disputing the fact that Orange mountain bikes have done well with the Diva Five. Taking a classic design and tweaking it to be more accommodating for the girls was always going to be a winner. Look no further for a good quality women’s trail bike.
